Despite me not being a Buddhist, I have quickly found that there are many aspects that prove to be beneficial in everyday life. After recently reading 'Peace is Every Step' by Thich Nhat Hanh, he brought up many important aspects that we all experience in everyday life and effectively explained them, one of these being how to transform your feelings.
"Calling a feeling by its name, such as anger, sorrow, joy, or happiness, helps us identify it clearly and recognize it more deeply." Recognize the feeling as it arises, not neglecting it, to get to the root of its cause. Through doing this observation you may understand its nature, and ultimately be more freed from the negative emotion.
He that is slow to anger is better than the mighty; and he that ruleth his spirit than he that taketh a city.
